About (Library Website)
Library is the heart of an institution. International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) authority has established the University library in 1995 at the beginning of its journey. Now it becomes the largest Library among all the private university libraries of the country. Its full name is “Library and Information Division (LID)”.
There are over than 1, 44,759 books in IIUC Library covering the subjects relating to the academic programmers and other co-curriculum disciplines. There are also journals, periodicals, research and thesis papers, reports, conference proceedings, handbooks, manuals, encyclopedias, dictionaries, CD, VCD etc. for the users which are treated as reference collections and these can only be used within the library. The library collections are being arranged and organized according to the DDC scheme & AACR-2, so that a user can easily find any book or other collection among huge collections of the library.
The library building is situated in its own permanent campus at Kumira settled in a nice scenic view and which is probably the most beautiful library building among all of its kind in South-east Asia. The library can accommodate easily over 456 users at a time in its full air-conditioned reading room. More than 300 users use the library every day.
The library operates a network of CCTV camera inside the library to ensure the security of its own self and also its resources.

Library Policy & Regulations
  • Library opening hours, as determined from time to time, will be posted on the Library’s notice board and main entrance.
  • Users are required to display their ID/staff/matric/membership card throughout their stay in the library. However, staff wearing IIUC official nametags is allowed to enter.
  • Users must be formally and decently attired as defined in the University Dress Code. In summary it states:-“Well groomed and properly attired; excluding the use of slippers and any form of footwear that reflect sloppiness, “sarong” and “T-shirt” without collar for men, and clothing that does not cover the ‘aurat…”
  • Pets are not allowed to enter the Library.
  • Only reading and writing materials can be brought into the Library. Other materials such as bags, umbrellas, parcels, crash helmets, etc., are not to be brought into the library. Such articles may be left in the pigeon holes provided close to the entrance of the Library. Library management accepts no responsibility for loss of any of these items.
  • Hand-phone, walkman, Discman and similar electronic gadgets are not allowed to be brought into the Library.
  • Smoking, eating and drinking is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Customers are required to conduct themselves properly and give cooperation to create a pleasant atmosphere in the library conducive for study and research.
  • Silence is to be strictly observed in the Library.
  • Mutilating or stealing Library materials/properties are liable to strict disciplinary action.
  • Reservation of seat is not permitted.
  • Customers are not allowed to remove or change the placement of chairs, tables or any other furniture in the Library.
  • In accordance to the University’s rule, users must conform to the separate seating provided for brothers and sisters.
  • The Library accepts no responsibility for lost of personal belonging(s) left unattended.
  • Official time of the Library, including the basis for determining fines for overdue borrowing will be read according to the Circulation System Clock or the clock at the Borrowing Counter. Should these clocks be out of order, the Library staff shall determine the correct time.
  • The Library staff on duty has the authority to ask any user, who causes disturbance in the Library to leave.
  • Users may be required to show all books and items they carry for inspection at the exit gate before leaving the Library. This is especially so when the exit gate’s alarm rings.
  • Library officers have the authority to bar any person from using library facilities for any infringement of the Library Rules and Regulations.
  • Library Authority may amend Library Rules and Regulations as and when necessary.
