The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) organized a seminar on Global Aging Trends and Healthcare Needs in Bangladesh on 22nd December, 2025, at the university's conference hall. The seminar addressed the critical challenges and opportunities arising from increased global life expectancy and the growing demand for elderly healthcare in Bangladesh. The seminar was presided over by Professor Dr. Mohammad Aktaruzzaman Khan, Director of IQAC. The keynote speaker was the eminent Bangladeshi-British academic Professor Dr. Hafiz Tareq Abdullah Khan, Professor of Public Health Statistics at the University of West London, UK, and a Professorial Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, University of Oxford. In his keynote address, Professor Hafiz T.A. Khan explained that the rapid demographic shift toward an aging population is significantly impacting healthcare and social security frameworks. He urged the government and institutional stakeholders to prioritize long-term strategies and evidence-based policy-making to support the elderly. The seminar featured ANM Shamsul Islam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), IIUC, as a distinguished guest. Also present as Special Guests were Mostafa Ashraful Alam, Joint Director of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), and Professor Dr. ABM Alauddin Chowdhury, Head of the Department of Public Health at Daffodil International University. The Vice-Chancellor of IIUC, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ali Azadi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he stated: Today's seminar has provided crucial insights into the challenges posed by an aging population. It has equipped our students and faculty with valuable knowledge regarding future social and public health strategies, which is essential for the nations sustainable development. The event saw active participation from Deans of various faculties, Departmental Chairmen, and faculty members. The session was moderated by Dr. Shah Mohammad Sanaul Karim, Additional Director of IQAC, in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Monjur Alam, also an Additional Director of IQAC
