Dr. Md. Shayeed Hossain received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees in Islamic History and Culture from the University of Rajshahi. His research focused on South and South-East Asia. Dr. Shayeed then achieved the degree of doctor of philosophy entitled ‘Bangladesh-Myanmar Relations; 1972-2010' at the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS), University of Rajshahi in 2014. Diplomatic ties with countries in South and Southeast Asia are his area of interests. However, Dr. Shayeed is now working as an Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture at the International Islamic University in Chittagong (IIUC), which is located in Bangladesh. Dr. Shayeed has been an active participant in seminars and symposia on a local, national, and international level, where he has spoken on a broad range of his specialty, most notably the Rohingya refugee crisis.
